Bicycles to Support NHS Workers

The local charity Hamilton Davies Trust (HDT) has passed on 30 bikes to the Nationwide Cycling Academy which will be refurbished and gifted to NHS workers.

The bikes, originally donated by local residents, would normally have been sent to HMP Risley for their CHAINS program. Unfortunately, with the current circumstances, the trust were unable to do so. When they heard that the Nationwide Cycling Academy needed bikes for key-workers they jumped at the opportunity to help.

As a result, many key-workers will be able to avoid public transport and have a safer journey to work, avoiding close proximity with others.
A spokesperson for HDT said, “We would like to say a massive thank you to all who donated a bike over the last few months. We are sure you will be glad to know that it will be put to good use by key workers who are currently putting a lot on the line to save lives.”

If you have any adult bikes to donate, please email with your postcode and a contact telephone number.

The HDT team are all busily working from home, continuing to support the community as best they can. Here’s a video that our team member Sarah has produced to keep those having to ‘Stay at Home’ amused.
