An eight-year old Irlam girl has been keeping herself busy during the weeks of lock-down, by raising funds for the Irlam and Cadishead Foodbank.
Jamie attends St Teresa’s RC Primary School, she loves to dance and is part of the England dance team, she should have this week been flying out to Rome, to compete in the 2020 Dance World Cup which unfortunately has had to be postponed for obvious reasons.
Mum Lisa said, “During lockdown Jamie has kept her self-busy making bracelets amongst other things, she asked if she could sell the bracelets to try and raise money, what a great idea we thought. I also saw this as an opportunity to aid her home learning, this involved some maths, crafts and some business skills whilst doing something incredibly kind for our local community.”
Throughout lockdown they had been posting daily pictures of things Jamie had been upto they shared these pictures on social media with friends and family this proved very useful in selling the bracelets. Jamie spend her days spinning the bracelet wheel and in a very short space of time she had made over £100. Jamie was delighted at all the support she had received and was thrilled to go and do the shopping for the food bank.
Jamie said, “it makes me feel so happy I can help people and make a difference.” Anita Wood from the Irlam and Cadishead Foodbank added, “We would like to thank Jamie for her food donation. During the lockdown, Jamie made some beautiful bracelet and sold them to family and friends to make money to buy food for the foodbank. Irlam and Cadishead food bank really appreciate your hard work and donation. So, once again Jamie, many thanks.”
