Before the COVID-19 issues hit their peak, staff at the Fledglings Education and Childcare nursery on Fiddlers Lane in Irlam have been doing their bit to help those less fortunate in the Community.
Kate Gilmartin from the Nursery said, “We are working closely with the Salford Fostering Team. We have been in contact with the fostering team and our information has been passed onto support workers who work with families in need. If we can help a family in any way that we can, we will do.
For example, we are currently sourcing a table and chairs for a young family from our local charity shop, that we are in the process of delivering this off personally to the family (pictured below). We also put together an Easter egg hamper for both children in this family, with Fledglings staff also putting together other things to help.”
Fledglings staff have for a number of weeks, delivered a selection of sandwiches to help our local Food Bank and this continued every Tuesday to help support our community.
During these difficult times, they will also be doing anything that they can within the local community to help the elderly, they have been door to door delivering letters offering help should the elderly or families be self-isolating.
Although the nursery has now had to close to most of their children and their families ,following government guidelines, they are remaining open to support key workers only during these difficult times.
