Fresh Fruit and Veg – Support Your Local Greengrocer!

It is great to see that a local initiative has really taken off, providing fresh fruit and vegetables, some straight off our moss!

Local farmer Jonathan Stringer (pictured below) and his wife Lyndsey decided to set up a shop when the ‘lock down’ started to unable local people to have access to fresh fruit and vegetables. With the continued support of the community they have now been able to continue providing great produce from the shop on Liverpool Road in Cadishead next to the Automech Garage.

Jonathan Stringer told the Local Mag, “A big thank you to the people of Irlam and Cadishead. We would like to thank local residents for their support and we hope that we can continue to provide fantastic fresh produce as our way of supporting our local community.”

Let’s be honest, what can be better than potatoes and other produce fresh from the Moss, carrots form Hollins Green, cabbage, beetroots, lettuces, leeks, rhubarb and tomatoes from Cheshire and eggs from Warburton!

Buying local produce, locally, not only supports the local economy but also reduces the carbon footprint as goods are grown locally and we all know that fresh really is best! A great way to kick-start that healthy eating campaign and ditch the pounds that must of us have put on during the pandemic.

The well-stocked fruit and veg shop, that has everything from strawberries and bananas, to mushrooms and spring onions, is open as follows:

10:00 am – 5:00 pm
10:00 am – 5:00 pm
10:00 am – 5:00 pm
10:00 am – 7:00 pm
10:00 am – 6:00 pm
10:00 am – 3:00 pm

Come on, support your local shop. As with any new business, either use it or lose it…
