Irlam couple Les and Margaret Vaudrey (pictured) will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this Saturday 30th May.
A massive congratulations to Les and Margaret also known as mum and dad the perfect couple, the greatest mum, dad and friends you could ever imagine.
They got together when Margaret’s mum started working with Les sister and have been together ever since, holding hands walking down the road. Most people know who they are if they don’t know them personally.
They have walked miles and miles over the years on holiday and at home. 15 miles, a small stretch of the legs before lunch, even better if heading towards a pub.
Whilst out walking collected pennies found left on the street, something that was started when Les ‘manned’ a Crossing Patrol for Irlam High School and saw the school children leaving pennies dropped whilst running for a bus. A family orientated couple they gathered family and friends for a get together using the money found. A brilliant afternoon catching up with people not seen for years.
Les and Margaret have done a lot for the community including, having an allotment, litter picking, Friends of Irlam Station and Margaret writes the Irlam Station column in the Irlam Mag.
A member of the family said, “Les and Margaret recently renewed their vows at St. Johns church. Just themselves and the vicar. So, we know they wouldn’t like a fuss, but we felt that the occasion needed to be marked for such a lovely couple.” Congratulations Les and Margaret lets hope you have a memorable day!
