Grace Brings a Smile with Her Homemade Cakes

A seven-year old Cadishead girl, is a ‘beacon’ of the community spirit that currently prevails around our district and long may it continue.

Grace Higham, age seven from Cadishead, normally likes riding her bike and taking her doll Poppy for a walk. She is also a Morris dancer but due to COVID-19 all competitions have been cancelled, so they now practice via Zoom so they can still dance and see friends and do what she enjoys.

Grace has put her spare time to fantastic use and has been making cakes, cards and ‘rainbows’ for the elderly and vulnerable who are isolating in the community. Grace has fittingly also been nominated for a Northwest Tonight ‘Every Day Hero’ Award.

Grace said, “I just wanted to make people smile who were on their own during this difficult time. I have been making cornflake cakes, cards and other things to make people happy!”

These have been distributed around her local area in Cadishead and around Sandy Lane in Irlam where her Gran lives, obviously taking great care with the social distancing rules.

Grace’s Dad Andrew added, “I am so very proud of her for all her hard work over these last few weeks. She has been an inspiration to us all.”
