Medical Centre Merger Goes Ahead Because of COVID-19

It appears that the Irlam Group Medical Centre on Liverpool Road, Irlam has decided to merge with the Chapel Medical Centre, citing the current COVID-19 pandemic as the reason for bringing the merger decision forward with immediate effect.

Several worried residents have contacted the Local Mag after receiving text messages stating the following, “This is to inform you that due to COVID-19 and staff shortages, we have had to make the difficult decision and close the Irlam Group Practice. All services have been moved to Chapel Medical Centre at 220 Liverpool Road. There will be no disruption to services. Prescriptions can be ordered over the telephone or by posting your slip in the post box at Chapel Medical Centre or by emailing
The telephone number for Irlam Group Practice remains the same 0161 776 1000. All calls are being diverted to Chapel Medical Centre so there is no disruption to services.”
